American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

The American Red Cross will be partnering with the YMCA.

Please contact the YMCA at 940-761-1000 and ask for Julie Ann for exact dates, times, and location for scheduled lifeguard classes. For any other Lifeguard classes and CPR renewal for Lifeguards contact the American Red Cross office at 322-8686 Ext. 15 Rhonda.

Adult CPR with Automatic Defibrillator (AED) and Standard First Aid

This course includes the AED training which is designed to train participants in the used of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) trainer that analyzes victims heart rhythm and prompts participants when to deliver an electric shock to a victim who has no pulse. Prerequisite: Adult CPR

Pet First Aid

Designed for people who are interested in being able to care for their pets (dogs and cats) in an emergency situation. The course covers Disaster Preparation, Pet First Aid & CPR and includes “hands on” practice with Pet Manikins.

4 ½ hours

Babysitting Safety

This course will prepare a young adult (aged 11-15) to be a responsible babysitter. Participants need to bring a sack lunch.

Continuing Education Presentations

These presentations cover safety issues in the workplace. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Introduction to Disaster Services

As a prerequisite to all Disaster Services training, this course provides the fundamental Information about a disaster and its effects on individuals and the community. The participant is introduced to Red Cross disaster relief operation.

This course may be taken as a video based home study course.

Mass Care: An Overview

Prepare participants to provide service to the masses in the field. An overview of feeding, food preparation, sheltering, and bulk distribution of items needed to recover from a disaster.

This course may be taken as a video based home study course.

Damage Assessment

Participants are taught how to conduct Red Cross disaster damage assessment following a major disaster. Because Red Cross damage assessment information is cited by other disaster relief agencies and by local and federal government, participants learn how the information is used and the importance of reliable data.

CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer

Course is designed for those who have a duty to respond to emergencies, and teaches how to use an Automated External Defibrillator.

First Aid, CPR, AED instructor

This course is designed to train individuals to teach American Red Cross Adult CPR, AED, child/infant CPR, and First Aid

Family Care Giving

Participants learn the skills and knowledge to care for an ill family member at home. Course consists of nine topics.
