Introduction to Disaster Services ARC 3066
Course Purpose: The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services online course is to engage and inspire the public to actively participate in supporting American Red Cross disaster response. This self-study course will introduce learners to American Red Cross Disaster Services and allow them to discover how volunteers support this critical mission and to explore ways they can become involved in a local chapter.
Course Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Length: The course is comprised of three modules, and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Course Purpose: The purpose of this basic training is to provide basic information about the activities and processes of the Logistics function in support of an American Red Cross disaster relief operation. Course Purpose: The purpose of this basic training is to provide participants an opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful logistical operation in their local chapter.

Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment
Description: Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment (DSIMS200B) is a blended learning course consisting of two components, online (DSIMS200C) and instructor-led (DSIMS200A). Successful completion of both course components is required to receive a certificate of course completion.
The online training component of the course (Part 1) resides on the Red Cross Learning Management System (LMS). It provides an overview of the Disaster Assessment activity and its related tasks.
The instructor-led component of the course (Part 2) will reinforce and build upon content presented in the online component while providing participants with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and develop skills in Disaster Assessment through applied learning activities.
Purpose: The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services course is to introduce the critical role of Disaster Assessment, explore related preparedness tasks, learn how to collect and communicate disaster assessment information, and become familiar with how disaster assessment information supports management and service delivery decisions.

Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance
Description: Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance is an instructor-led, video-supported course designed to train Red Cross caseworkers how to conduct effective client interviews and provide appropriate assistance to help meet a client’s immediate disaster-caused or disaster-aggravated needs.
This learning experience consists of a series of short instructor and video presentations interwoven with class discussions, which focus on the skills, knowledge and attitudes required of a Red Cross caseworker. This learning experience culminates in an interactive, hands-on simulated activity during which participants are provided the opportunity to conduct interviews, assess client needs and determine the appropriate assistance, using the tools and resources available to caseworkers.
Purpose: The purpose of this basic disaster services course is to prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to perform the tasks of an Individual Client Services Casework Service Associate.
Prerequisites Required: . Fulfilling Our Mission: Translating Your Compassion Into Community Action (DSGEN200A) Length This one-day course contains approximately 7 hours of instruction, two 15-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch (at the instructor’s discretion), to comprise a 8.5-hour training day. Course Purpose: The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services course is to prepare volunteers and employees of the Red Cross to safely and effectively use an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and its equipment to meet feeding and other service needs of people affected by disaster.

Length: This course consists of two parts. The first part contains approximately three hours of self-study. At the conclusion of the self-study, participants must attend the second part, which consists of the combination of an ERV orientation and a road test. Participants must complete both parts of the course. The total estimated time to complete the second part of the course is dependent upon the number of participants and the availability of equipment.

Disaster Assessment Workshop ITS
Workshop Purpose: The purpose of this basic interim training is to provide an overview of the new and revised concepts, procedures, tools and resources contained in the recently released Disaster Assessment (ARC 30-3049) document. This workshop will enable chapter disaster leadership and Disaster Assessment workers to begin to incorporate these concepts into planning, training and response activities.

Collaborating to Ensure Effective Service Delivery (ARC 3089-4)
Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is to prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to establish collaborative relationships that contribute to coordinated disaster response and help to ensure effective service delivery. This course will also prepare participants to begin conducting liaison activities in a chapter and establish a foundation upon which they can build toward a career as a liaison in the Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) System.
Participants: Participants will be Red Cross employees and volunteers with an interest in serving as a liaison in a chapter or building toward a career as a liaison in the DSHR System. Those serving in other disaster programs and services who are interested in improving their ability to collaborate with others toward the achievement of effective and enhanced service delivery may also benefit from taking this course.

Familiarity with: Red Cross programs and services and how they support service delivery.

Experience working with a Red Cross chapter, community and labor organizations, government agencies and/or diverse populations. Given the purpose, objectives, and subsequent design of this course, training and experience beyond what is required for this course is recommended. This training requires a collaborative learning environment where both participants and instructors must draw upon their knowledge of and/or experience in Red Cross disaster service delivery. Without this knowledge or experience participants and the instructor may find some of the discussions and activities challenging and lacking in necessary relevance and learning impact.
Length: This is a two-day course comprised of 12 hours of instruction, 60 minutes of break time interspersed throughout and two 1 hour and 30 minute lunch periods (at the instructor’s discretion). Attendance the entire time is required.

Course Purpose: Purpose of this basic level course, prepares Red Cross volunteers and employees who will be assigned to government and emergency settings to work collaboratively with Red Cross partners, helping to ensure a coordinated response that results in effective service delivery.
Required: Collaborating to Ensure Effective Service Delivery (ARC 3089-4) Sufficient operations knowledge and experience to provide a functional understanding of the concepts, principles and procedures associated with disaster assessment, sheltering, feeding, the provision of individual assistance and the basics of operations management needed to adequately participate in the discussions and activities contained in this course.

Fundamentals of Chapter Disaster Operations Management
Description: Fundamentals of Chapter Disaster Operations Management is an interactive, instructor-led course designed to train Disaster Services leadership employees and volunteers to perform the fundamental roles and responsibilities of directing a disaster relief operation.
This 1.5 day learning experience consists of a series of presentations, class discussions and small table group activities during which participants perform in the role of a chapter disaster relief operation director. The activities require course participants to apply their disaster knowledge, experience and critical thinking
abilities to the complex challenges of developing and resourcing effective service delivery plans that meet the needs of the disaster-affected community.
Purpose: The purpose of this course is to prepare Red Cross employees and leadership volunteers to manage a small disaster relief operation, which is chapter managed and accounted, and at least partially funded by the Disaster Relief Fund.
