36 hour course.

Course includes:
skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic
emergencies
CPR for the professional rescuer
First Aid training and certifications
Certifications:
Life Guarding certification (valid for 3 years)
CPR for the professional rescuer (valid for 1 year)
First Aid (valid for 3 years)
Prerequisites:
Student must be at least 15 years old by the end of the course and pass the pre-course swim screening, which is held the first session of every course.
Pre-course swim screening: Lifeguard Candidates must be able to swim 300 yards using the following strokes in this order: 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. 100 yards of breaststroke, and 100 yards of either front crawl using rhythmic breathing or breaststroke. This last 100 yards may be a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke. .
Each course will be held over
two consecutive weekends.
**Students must attend and pass all six sessions of the course to
receive their certification.**
NO SUBSTITUTIONS!
Participants must wear a one-piece bathing suit.

Pre-requisite: Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT), 17 years old.

This course prepares you to
teach American Red Cross Swimming lessons to youth.
Participants must attend all
sessions in order to receive certifications. FIT will be
held at the American Red Cross building.
